It's All About Boring Canada You Say??

I say your full of doo doo.

The biggest reason for the drop of 30% in American tourists over the past 5 years from the GTA?? How about
this or this or perhaps this.

So while you all have fun insulting Americans, stop complaining that they don't want to spend money in your city anymore.

Here's a tip: if you want tourism to increase, why don't you try being friendly instead of rude and arrogant.

lol Jamie!!

I thought I would try a bit of common sense on them since it doesn't appear to be too common in GTA.

Great post, Aizlynne!

For what it's worth, I am hoping to visit Alberta with my other half during this summer - perhaps in time to visit Stampede.

Albertans rarely engage in petty insults against Yankees, and actually say "thank you" when a Yankee indicates some bona fide knowledge about Canada during a conversation (i.e. being able to sing "O Canada", at least in English). I've also found most Newfoundlanders very kind.

In British Columbia, the "anti-American" attitude shows up occasionally within the "Nuclear Free Zone" city limits of Vancouver [I learned to stick to a Canadian dialect when in public places there!], but very rarely in suburbs like Cloverdale or Langley, and very rarely in rural areas of the province.

It is definitely not going to increase tourism now that the US has instituted a new policy that Canadians and Americans will now require a passport to get into the US. This is a huge issue for Canada, you can see the implications already with the decrease in cross-border tourism occurring in Windsor, Ontario right now during the Superbowl in Detroit, and the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver are going to suffer as well. The fact is that only about 30% of Americans have a passport, and so Canada will lose out on 70% of that population coming to visit us.

In Toronto it's just called 'sense' now. Since it is no longer common.

People in Tarana are nasty and rude to each other... so why should they be polite to Americans. By the way, why would anyone want to visit the shit-pit anyway?
