The End of CBC??

For those of us who have wanted less crappy TV and more individual choice in cable programming, this is good news.

Does this mean the end of state sponsored television is in sight?

(One can only hope).

I didn't know you had state sponsored television up there.

I get about 180 channels since we put in direct TV. So far I can only find about 5 of them that are worth watching. :(

Yes, we have state sponsored TV, compliments of Cdn taxpayers too Gayle! It's rather ridiculous to Americans, I know ... and to some of us Cdns too!

This would be a dream come true, there are so many stupid channels I would like to eliminate because on shaw, you can't turn the bloody things off or eliminate them from the stupid never ending menu ... grrrrrrrr..I only need about 8-10 channels... the rest are garbage..

This is coming because the Americancable/satellite companies are starting to go "buy what you want, nothing more". It is great. If they didn't make this move, I would've just got an American provider, the same as I did with satellite radio before Canada smartened up. Funny thing about the Communist Broadcast Cabal and their commie regulators(CRTC). They don't seem to understand that airwaves don't recognize the Canada/U.S. border! Imagine that..lol

So, its now my understanding that cable companies MUST offer certain channels, like the CBC. Is that correct?

If so, it really isn't at all helping this intense hatred I hold for the CRTC.

I mean, I know a lot of socialists out there who just love the idea of a bunch of civil servents telling them what they can and cannot watch, but the rest of us believe in a little thing called freedom.

Freedom, in a free country, should apply to great sweeping notions, but also to the little mundane things like televsion.

Tell me again why my tax dollars are paying the government to decide whats on my TV?

So they can promote their brand of socialism and re-engineering of the masses Junker.
