New Year Election Observations

The best of the New Year to all my blogging pals! I hope Santa was good to you all and that you enjoyed your time with family and friends.

Even though the tone was quieter, election campaigning plowed along during the holidays. Some things I observed:

1) Who says bloggers aren't noticed??? Not the media anymore. During the holidays, I read 3 or 4 MSM articles about the brilliance and hard work of bloggers. Honourable mentions included Small Dead Animals (wtg Kate) and Angry in the Great White North for his exposure of Liberal ads (touque award for Angry).

2) The Liberals continue to self-implode, much to my delight!! Anyone observing has noticed that Chretien and his allies have targeted Martin for death. Knowing this, I still wasn't too confident that they could pull it off.

But I needn't have worried ... the Martinites are doing a terrific job themselves! I mean really, what kind of idiot would boast about a chow chow and a person named Chow and post it for the world to see ... only those warped minded idiots that run the Liberal Party. Can you say scary.

I implore those with sense ... don't vote for politicians who court people like this for their executive positions!

3) Stephen Harper's version of Liberal lite became predominently clear. I'm not impressed. If he has to sell himself out in order to coo certain voters, then why bother calling yourself a Conservative.

Yeah.. I know, I've heard the argument. But are you any better than the Libs if you will say what they want in order to be elected?? If you have to pretend to be Liberal, then just vote Liberal.

4) The Boxing Day shooting of Jane Creba was an eventuality that was finally fulfilled. Her death, by already banned handguns, proves that the Liberals are inept legislators who would rather play shell games with your hard earned money, then make effective legislation that works.

The blood of this young lady is on the hands of the Liberal Party, especially Anne McLellan, who as Justice Minister was responsible for ensuring changes to the criminal justice system were effective, including tougher penalties for handgun crimes, and tougher border patrols to enable them to do the job required.

If you live in Edmonton in AM's riding, it is your DUTY to the Creba family (and all the ones that will follow them unless change is made) to vote her OUT of office.

5) The Green Party's carbon tax proposal should make all Albertan's cringe. If you are too young to remember the carbon tax imposition of 1980, just ask your parents.
Any party that suggests Alberta should be brought to its knees again by imposing carbon taxes doesn't deserve my vote.

I don't know who will get my $1.75, but it isn't the Green Party. Environmental stewardship is important, and I am confident there are many other ways to achieve our goals then forcing millions of Canadians into bankruptcy.

So those were my observations. I would be interested in hearing what you thought of the election campaigning over the holidays so don't forget to leave a comment!

My New Year's resolution is to help some hard-working, law-abiding Western Canadians move to the United States!

We need more hard-working anglophone Western Canadians - those who haven't been totally spoiled by the corrupt maple-leaf welfare state. You may find find IT IS NOT SCARY LIVING IN THE USA.

Besides, I spent far too much time in Western Canada in recent years - and am reminded by other Yanks who kid me about my occasional spoken traces of Canadian dialect.

On a more somber note: I do fear that another Liberal Minority government may inspire a second "brain drain" of skilled Canucks to the USA or to other countries. Paul Martin's leadership style is starting to resemble that of Argentina's Peron family.

Indeed. However, there are some other things to consider. I would quite frankly take an NDP government over a Liberal one right now. A party too long unchallenged and in power sinks in its claws and gets harder and harder to remove as time goes on. You've need a changing of the guards, no matter what the replacements color, in order to avoid corruption.

And at this point, the words Liberal and corruption seem transposable.

Belated Happy New Year, Aiz. I couldn't agree more with SNB observation. The Canucks heading south will only oncrease if the thieves get back in, moi included.
As for Harper selling Lieberal Lite, unfortunately, this is the only thing lefties in the GTA will get. All in all, my impression so far has been with all 3 national parties, we are foobarred. Cynical? Yeah. I tend to get that way when people rob me and surround me with stupidity.

Like JT said, a certain amount of compromise had to be put in to appease the socialist wackos short term. I'm still not overly confident the CPC will pull it off, the last few weeks are going to be rip and tear. My long term goal is to ultimately exit the nation or the country, I really can't deal with the marxist/communist mentality. A CPC only delays the inevitable, but buys time to get organized, which is happening in the background. You could see a new party forming soon, or a dead one rise from the ashes... ;-)

I'm with JT and ABF. My family and I are starting to talk about moving to the States. Growing up less than an hour away from Idaho and Washington state, I can personally vouch for the friendliness of the people there. And that is not even mentioning the Great people that I have met from the States while blogging.

Happy new year Aizlynne....as you probably heard, PM Dithers sez Harper wants to throw us to the wolves....with the depleted earning power and compromised finacial security his tax regime has left me with, I say this is a lesser fate than being "saved" by wolves.

May the new year see a fresh start for Canada and an end to corrupt governing.

The worst part is that there's no alternative...

Actually, our family is planning to move very very far away in several years. A great place for people who want their dollar to give them a life of luxury, or at least wonderful leisure in retirement should start spending time on the following site:

There's a whole world out there outside the West.... and some of it is incredibly provocotive.

Where's the Special edition Dalton McGuinty action figure with the dual "I am appalled!" and the "I will not raise taxes!" lines?

I hear he has a kung fu grip.

I'm sorry, Aizlynne, I have to disagree with this statement. This poor girl's blood is not on Screechin' Annie's hands. Her blood is on the hands of the individual who shot her to death and nobody else's.

But I still want to see Landslide Annie get trounced at the polls.

As for that murderer, I'd like to see him get a long drop and a sudden stop.

Its a pity that you won't be supporting us Greens though I could argue your point about the carbon tax. If you have the money to buy a gas guzzling Hummer, maybe you should be taxed for the environmental impact you are making. The same goes for the person who buys a Prius. Reduce your environmental impact and we'll reduce your tax impact. It obviously goes beyond this simple point but its time that people start realizing that taking the environment into account is no longer an "option".

The important thing that I am stressing to ALL voters is to take a good hard look at all the parties and vote FOR someone instead of AGAINST them. But, just from blogging exchanges with you Aiz, I have no worries that you will vote and vote appropriately.

Lex
