Alberta Alliance Leadership Heating Up

The race is on for the Leadership position! Voting will take place in Red Deer on November 19. The candidates are about as varied as you can get so I am positive there is someone who suits your taste.

If you haven't already become a member, what's stopping you??? Membership in the Alliance, the only other true conservative alternative, is the best investment you can make for $10. Your voice, I can guarantee, will be heard and valued. Now how many other political organizations can make you that promise!

We already have one prominent MLA in the legislature (Paul Hinman, Cardston/Taber). Come next election, we need more voices in Legislature in order to keep those Tories on their toes, and true to their fiscal/social policies. The magic # is 4 - that is the number of MLA's needed in order for the party to get provincial funding.

Visit their website for complete information on party policy, leadership convention information and FAQ.

See you in November!

I can see support for them rising in south-central Alberta. Klop, at 38, would be a little young I think to lead the party, but also may bring some "new blood" and new life into it as well. Should be interesting to see who wins.....

Sorry Aiz, you know where I stand on this, and my reasons, but I do wish you guys the best of luck. Not sure who your going to want to be leader, but in checking this out, Marilyn had the best response to my questions, even though I thought she didn't do very well in the first Freedom Radio debate.

Can't agree with you on this one Aiz. For awhile I did do some fence sitting, but after thoroughly going over the Alliance platform, I can see no change from the current status quo. And that is the problem. Under the provincial red tories, or the alliance, or the dippers, or anybody except the separatists, it's all about maintaing the status quo. A status quo which may make Albertans feel warm and fuzzy, but which accomplishes nothing towards gaining what is rightfully ours.We do not need platitudes and feel-good words towards the Feds and the ROC. We need firewalls. We need someone with the guts to tell the ROC and the Feds where the bear shit in the buckwheat. We need a party to say we are not going to bend over to 30% of the country that likes being lied to and screwed over.
I do wish the Alliance all the best. I just think that 60 years of giving the ROC a chance to prove they care about the West is enough. We have to treat them like the spoiled, welfare dependent children they are, and send them to a corner.I just hope we don't end up vote splitting and letting the, God forbid, dippers in provincially.

I'm with you ABF... Sorry Aiz... Their policy doesn't lay out when it would be time to have a referrendum on separation. To me all that says is that they bark loud, but will go to extreme lenghts to stay in Canada. We already have that in Ralphie, (the bark) and we have been trying for a century for equality. Time to elect the only party with a clear adjenda.

I understand guys and I wish you the best of luck with your separation party.

For me, at this time, I have too much vested, and family too far and wide across this country to give up on it so quickly. There's nothing written that the Liberal party is a forever thing and then what happens. To me, separation is a reality that may happen, but not without the will of Albertan's. And right now, in my opinion, they aren't ready to separate.

I think we first have to get electoral changes done and the Alliance party platform is full of them. I don't know how that matches the status quo?

What about the Natives? Think they will separate too? I somehow doubt it. If you cut out their land, which contains alot of the oil and gas we generate, we aren't maybe as well off as it appears. This is just one thing that needs to be thought about. Separation, at this point, to me, is just a knee jerk reaction to the Libs.

I applaud each of you for being so passionate about your future and your childrens' future that you are willing to stand up for something. So many people don't. That's one of the reasons I enjoy visiting with you each day.

And Jamie ... I am trying to get that kid of mine to start on your logo... but the Sims University game is taking all of her spare time this week... lol.
