God Asleep At The Wheel During Katrina

According to this American Atheist site he was. Here is a brief quote from the article (click on Press Release):

Dave Silverman, Communications Director for American Atheists, compared Hurricane Katrina to January’s Asian tsunami which claimed thousands of lives.

“It appears that despite all of the outbursts of public religiosity and prayer, ‘God’ was once again asleep at the wheel. Only human beings can deal with the calamities of the natural world,” said Silverman. “God doesn’t seem to be much help when it comes to rushing food, water, or antibiotics when people are suffering.”

What's interesting to note is that over 85% of Americans who live in the southern states are religious in one form or another. What some of these "free thinkers" fail to comprehend is that for alot of these folks, religion and their faith is all they have left. So why would you want to take it from them in their time of need?
