I'm Mike - From Canmore

How many of you have enjoyed the spoils of the Royal Canadian Air Farce? It's one of the few good things to come out of the CBC. One of my favorite characters was John Morgan's Mike, from Canmore. Who was yours??

Anyway, that is where I am off to today - to Canmore.

For those of you who haven't been there before, it's a quaint mountain town about 20 minutes south of Banff (45 minutes from Calgary). It sits in a valley at the bottom of the Three Sisters Mountain Range on the East and Mount Rundle on the West.

It offers lot's of activity for visitors in the summer or winter. Here are just some of the things you can do:

Unique shops and restaurants are abundant in Canmore, plus you don't have the crowds like Banff.
There is cross country skiing in winter, and alpine treks are only 20 minutes away.

There is dog sledding (which is a blast!!), hiking some awesome trails, golfing and spa's for my more pampered blogging friends. Of course, you can't forget to visit the site of the 1988 Olympic game venue where the triathalon was held.

But for today, I am taking my parents for their first visit in more than 20 years. Sightseeing, beautiful scenery, relaxation, great food -- what more could you ask for! Just one of the many perks I enjoy by being a citizen of the great province of Alberta.
